Tom Sr. was one of at least fourteen Troy siblings, raised in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore (parish: St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1008 W. 37th St.). The remaining four (or more) are still to be identified — and one of them, the family says, was the Marie Troy for whom the editor of this page is named.
The Troy clan's anchor was St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church at the corner of Hickory Avenue and 37th Street in the Hampden neighborhood of north Baltimore. Patricia's 2019 funeral Mass was there. Blair Donohue's 2007 service was there. The pattern points to it as the family's home parish for at least three generations.
The Troy daughters tended toward Catholic women's schools: Seton High School and the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. The sons of the family worked broadly — teaching, catering, civil service. Patricia ran a city nonprofit. Tom Sr. shaped the foreign language curriculum of the Baltimore public schools. The Troy household was, in every sense, a working Catholic Baltimore family.
